With his courtly style of the early Florentine Renaissance, Sandro Botticelli (born Alessandro di Mariano di Vanni Filipepi) was one of the most sought-after painters in Florence.
Born on March 01, 1445 in Florence.
Died on May 17, 1510 in Florence.
Due to the two-year apprenticeship with Fra Filippo Lippi and the contact with the humanist circles around Di Medici, Sandro Botticelli's early work followed the style of the early Florentine Renaissance. Despite this fact, his paintings captivated by the powerful physicality of the figures and their distinctive color. The atmospheric ideal form of mythological paintings based on the ancient world is in particular shown by two masterpieces: "Allegory of Spring" and "Birth of Venus", which are counted among the major works of European painting.
