Michelangelo Caravaggio - Paintings

Michelangelo Caravaggio (actually called Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio) was one of the great naturalist painters of the early Italian Baroque who had many imitators who partly formed associations like the Utrecht Caravaggists.
Born on September 28, 1573 in Caravaggio near Milan.
Died on July 18, 1610 in Porto d’Ercole.
Michelangelo Caravaggio predominantly painted subjects from the Christian iconography. His figures captivate by bold colors and heightened naturalism, which earned him some criticism during his lifetime because some were of the opinion that his saints would lack necessary credit. Among the many significant works, he painted the Fruit basket during his early work, which was the first independent still life. His late work was increasingly dominated by a strong chiaroscuro painting style able to influence Rembrandt's works in a crucial way.
