Jan van Goyen - Paintings

Jan van Goyen, was an important Dutch landscape painter of the Baroque. His work was only poorly received by his contemporaries but experienced a revival in Impressionism.
Born on January 13, 1596 in Leiden.
Died on April 27, 1656 in The Hague.
Populated by many decorative figures, the early work by Jan van Goyen is kept in vibrant local colors. It was not until 1630, when the artist, who had worked as a master in the Leiden Guild of St. Luke from 1618 onwards, began to paint his landscapes in matching shades of gray, green and brown, and became the leading representative of the Haarlem tone painting. In his paintings, you can see typical Dutch landscapes that Jan van Goyen might have seen during his many trips.
