Giovanni Bellini - Paintings


Giovanni Bellini (also called "Giambellino"), being a member of one of the highly respected painter dynasties, was considered as the most important painter of Renaissance of Venice.
Born around 1427-1430 in Venice.
Died on November 29, 1516 in Venice.
Giovanni Bellini's work includes mainly religious paintings, large altarpieces as well as some portraits. Based on the work of his father Jacopo Bellini and his brother-in-law Andrea Mantegna, Giovanni Bellini's paintings captivate by their bright colors and the almost Gothic expression of this figures. After his peak with the Pietà of 1465, Bellini becomes the city painter of Venice in 1483. Among his most famous scholars are Titian and Lorenzo Lotto.
