Pompeo Girolamo Batoni - Peintures
Pompeo Girolamo Batoni (25 janvier 1708, Lucques – 04 février 1787, Rome), peintre italien du baroque tardif et précurseur du néo-classicisme italien, considéré comme le meilleur portraitiste de son temps. Après avoir appris l´orfèvrerie dans l´atelier de son père, il se rend à Rome pour se former au contact des œuvres de Raphaël et des sculptures de l´Antiquité. Dans ses tableaux au caractère nettement pathétique et théâtral il traite essentiellement de sujets religieux et mythologiques. Vers 1748 il développe un style entièrement nouveau dans l´art du portrait, ce qui lui vaut une place de premier plan parmi les peintres romains. Pompeo Girolamo Batoni
