Arthur Hughes - Peintures
Arthur Hughes (27 janvier 1832 – 22 décembre 1915, Londres), illustrateur et peintre de portraits et de paysages, sa vie durant il fait partie du groupe des Préraphaélites. Arthur Hughes commence l´étude de la peinture dès l´âge de 14 ans en tant qu´élève du peintre belge Alfred Stevens. Un an plus tard il rejoint la Royal Academy et poursuit ses études en compagnie de William Holman Hunt et de John Everett Millais. Tous trois prennent une direction artistique qui les amène à adhérer à la Fraternité préraphaélite. Hughes achève ses études en 1852 et 4 ans plus tard seulement obtient la large approbation de ses pairs avec son tableau April love qui représente le portrait en pied d´une jeune femme. Même après la dissolution de la Fraternité préraphaélite, Arthur Hughes reste fidèle aux motifs romantiques teintés de sentimentalisme et demeure l´un des meilleurs représentants de cette mouvance.
