Alfred Thompson Bricher - Peintures
Alfred Thompson Bricher (10 avril 1837, Portsmouth – 30 septembre 1908, New York), peintre américain du réalisme, connu avant tout pour ses marines. Après avoir travaillé pendant quelques années dans le commerce, Alfred Thompson Bricher étudie la peinture à l´institut Lower de Boston et ouvre son propre atelier. Dès 1864 il expose à plusieurs reprises et connaît un tel succès que 4 ans plus tard il part s´installer à New York. Ses paysages d´apparence presque figée sont alors très appréciés. Il réalise des représentations quasi monochromes avant de peindre des paysages côtiers sans aucune présence humaine. Bien que les tableaux d´Alfred Thompson Bricher aient attiré de nombreux collectionneurs de son vivant, son œuvre est largement oubliée après sa mort. Alfred Thompson Bricher
