Asher Brown Durand - Paintings

Asher Brown Durand, who was a member of the Hudson River School founded by Thomas Cole, is considered an American painter of the Romantic period.
Born on August 21, 1796 in Jefferson Village.
Died on September 17, 1886 in Jefferson Village.
Having completed an apprenticeship as an engraver at Peter Maverick's in New York, Asher Brown Durand began to paint portraits and landscape paintings when he was 35 years old. Later, he concentrated on painting panoramic landscapes. From his paintings of landscapes, the desire becomes evident that he wanted to depict the landscapes of the new world free from idealism and free of guilt and destruction. However, he often remained addicted to a very romantic style.
