Thomas Girtin - Bilder und Gemälde
Thomas Girtin, dessen besonderes ästhetisches Empfinden einen großen Einfluss auf die britische Landschaftsmalerei hat, ist ein bedeutender Maler und Radierer der Romantik im 18. Jahrhundert.
geboren am 18. Februar 1775 in London
gestorben am 2. November 1802 in London
Nach seiner Ausbildung bei dem Topographen Edward Dayes arbeitet Thomas Girtin von 1791- 95 selbst als Topograph. So sind seine ersten malerischen Werke ebenfalls diesem Metier verpflichtet. Es handelt sich vorerst um schottische Klosterruinen und alte Schlösser, die er wohl auf einer 4jährigen Reise durch Schottland und Wales gesehen haben mag. Durch seine Weiterentwicklung der Aquarelltechnik wirkt Thomas Girtin auch auf seinen Freund und Bewunderer William Turner beeinflussend.		 Thomas Girtin
