Francesco Albani, italienischer Maler des Barock, gilt als bedeutendster Maler mythologischer Themen der Schule von Bologna.
geboren am 17. August 1578 in Bologna
gestorben am 4. Oktober 1660 in Bologna
Francesco Albani geht 1625, nachdem er in Rom zum bedeutendsten Schüler von Annibale Carracci aufgestiegen ist, zurück nach Bologna. Dort hat er durch seine in leuchtend, hellen Farben gemalten Landschaftsbilder einen großen Anteil an der Entstehung des modernen Landschaftsbildes. Seine Werke bestechen durch ihre filigrane Linienführung und die elegante Bewegtheit seiner Figuren. 1620-22 gelangt Francesco Albani mit den 4 Tondi: Geschichte der Venus zu hohem Ansehen.
