Umberto Boccioni - Paintings

Umberto Boccioni belonged to a group of Italian futurists, together with Gino Severini, Carlo Carrà and Giacomo Balla.
Born: 19. October 1882 in Reggio Calabria
Died: 16. August 1916 near Verona
In his paintings and sculptures, Umberto Boccioni tries to depict the growing and changing dynamics of moved objects. Following the experimentality of the painters of the early Renaissance, the futurists tried to intertwine the three planes of room, time and space in a painting. Despite of his futuristic grounding, Umberto Boccioni’s work also shows tendencies towards divisionism and cubism.
