Giovanni Boldini - Paintings

Giovanni Boldini was an Italian painter of Impressionism. As a contemporary of Edgar Degas and Gustave Courbet, he was one of the most sought-after portrait painters in Paris.
Born: 31 December 1842 in Ferrara
Died: 12 January 1931 in Paris
After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, Giovanni Boldini develops an addiction to open-air painting. From 1872, he settles down in Paris where he, inspired by the works of Gustave Courbet and Edgar Degas, with whom he is friends, becomes a recognized portraitist for important members of the Belle Époque.
