Emile Friant - Paintings

Emile Friant was a very naturalistic artist of the French Salon scene of the 19th century. Already in lifetime, he was overwhelmed with awards.
Born: 16 April 1863 in Dieuze
Died: 09 June 1932 in Paris
After studying Arts in Nancy, Emile Friant works for Alexandre Cabanel for some time. Already at the age of 20, he receives his first award. Afterwards, the young artist is overwhelmed with numerous medals and is thus able to establish himself in the international market. He does some travelling through Europe, which makes him familiar with the international art scene. Friant's naturalist genre scenes remain stylistically committed to the academic tradition of the twentieth century, while in his late work, he attempts to experiment with subjects of symbolism.
