Caspar David Friedrich - Paintings

Caspar David Friedrich was the most important German painter of the Romantic landscapes.
Born on September 05, 1774 in Greifswald.
Died on May 07, 1840 in Dresden.
Caspar David Friedrich, who had become a painter only in 1807, moved to Dresden after completing his studies at the Copenhagen Academy. In this centrally situated town of the early Romantic period, he met with various romantic poets and philosophers, stimulated by his contact with Philipp Otto Runge. Inspired by the works of Ruisdael and Lorrain, Caspar David Friedrich succeeded in capturing the typical melancholy and romantic longing with his tense compositions.
