Born: 12 March 1831 in Worcester
Died: 22 March 1923 in Surrey
Benjamin Williams Leader discovers his love for painting through his father. In contrast to him, he turns his hobby into a career by studying art at the Royal Academy in London. Leader finds the motives for his landscapes in the highlands of Wales and Scotland. Through his very precise and detailed way of depiction, he soon enjoys a good order situation, which is supported by the paintings exhibited at the Royal Academy. In addition to his own paintings, also the still life paintings of flowers of his wife Mary and the landscapes of his son Benjamin Eastlake can be admired at the Academy. Benjamin Leader Williams, which is his real name, occasionally also paints genre pictures in addition to the landscapes. His paintings are often duplicated in engravings.
