Franz von Stuck was a German artist of Symbolism who earned great respect for his efforts in design, architecture, painting and drawing.
Born: 23 February 1863 in Tettenweis near Passau
Died: 30 August 1928 in Munich
In accordance with his artistic all-round talent, Franz von Stuck studies painting at the academy and receives an artistic and technical education. Accordingly, it is not surprising that he designs both his Munich villa and the suitable frameworks for his paintings himself. Because of these abilities and for his significant achievements as a painter, he is granted a professorship and awarded academic prizes. His mythological, allegorical paintings are thematically located in symbolism. In addition, von Stuck also integrates elements of the Art Nouveau. His painting “The Sin” becomes very famous, and is nowadays used as a prime example for a Femme Fatale. Franz von Stuck is already very famous during his lifetime, which is why many of the following artists are strive to orient themselves towards the style of this painter.
