Pieter Bruegel - Paintings

Pieter Bruegel (also called peasants' Bruegel due to his subjects) is considered the most original and significant Dutch painter of the 16th century as his realistic landscape displays influenced the art of Flanders and the northern Netherlands with a lasting effect.
Born around 1528 - 1530 in Brueghel near Breda.
Died on September 05, 1569 in Brussels.
Pieter Bruegel's work comprises of many paintings, drawings and copper engravings, the contents of which is partly based on Hieronymus Bosch showing very grotesque and tragicomic characteristics. This is particular evident in the way he depicted farmers, whom his pictures show both hard working and ribaldly celebrating. These partly morally reprehensive genre scenes face paintings with moralizing tendencies.
