Joseph DeCamp - Paintings

Joseph DeCamp, who was above all esteemed as an art master, was a popular American portrait painter in the style of Impressionism.
Born on November 05, 1858 in Cincinnati / Ohio.
Died on February 11, 1923 in Boca Grande / Florida.
Joseph DeCamp was taught by Frank Duveneck. Being his students, he traveled to Munich in 1878, to continue his education there. After a brief stay in Italy, the artist returned to Cincinnati and, a short time later, he moved to Boston. Taught in the plein-air painting, he soon became a popular teacher at different art schools. Besides these main activities, he himself painted isolated portraits and landscapes in the Impressionist style as well as a few acts that earn him a medal. When comparing the development of the background designs of his portraits towards more sparse interiors, an evolution of his style can be seen over the years.
