Hendrick Avercamp - Paintings

Hendrick van Avercamp (also called "the Mute from Kampen", because he was deaf-mute) was a Dutch painter of the early Baroque.
Born on January 27, 1585 in Amsterdam.
Died on May 15, 1634 in Kampen.
Hendrick van Avercamp's early work was inspired by the works of Pieter Bruegel the Elder, the scholar of whom he sure had been. He painted highly realistic winter landscapes within a strong, toned color scheme. Later, he developed his Flemish style, influenced by Arent Arentsz, more towards the Dutch way of painting. Besides landscape paintings with figurative scenes, he also painted maritime works and acquired importance in the development of the landscape-painting scene.
