Correggio (born Antonio Allegri), a Master of Illusionism, was one of the most important Italian artists of the High Renaissance.
Born around 1489 in Correggio near Modena.
Died on March 05, 1534 in Correggio.
Correggio's work consists of partly religious partly mythological cycles and panel paintings. In his early work, the influence of Andrea Mantegna is reflected by the still solid line and the drape of the garments. However, in the evocative landscapes depictions, Correggio's masterly style already becomes visible. His later work shows influences of Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. By his atmospheric and soft handling of light and color and the illusion of depth created by spatial shortening, he became the forerunner of Baroque Illusionism.		 Correggio
