Carl Blechen - Paintings

Carl Blechen was one of the most important German landscape painters of Romanticism and pioneer of Realism. He was one of the first German industrial painters.
Born: 29 July 1798 in Cottbus
Died: 23 July 1840 in Berlin
Influenced by the works of the romanticist Caspar David Friedrich at the Berlin Academy, Carl Blechen turns to painting landscapes from 1828/1829, as it becomes more and more realistic. His often-melancholic paintings appear in a free composition with a bright coloring and deal with the emerging industrialization.
