Bernardo Bellotto - Paintings

Bernardo Bellotto (also called Canaletto after his uncle and teacher Antonio Canal) was an Italian painter of Baroque. He is rated as the most important Venetian veduta painter of the 18th century.
Born: 30 January 1721 in Venice
Died: 17 October 1780 in Warsaw
After travelling through Italy and teaching Perspective at der Dresden Academy, in 1768, Bernardo Bellotto is appointed court painter of Stanislaw II Augustus in Warsaw. While being attached to his uncle’s style in his early work, in the 1740s, Bernardo Bellotto specializes in painting architecturally exact vedutes that can depict urban life in a very realistic manner.
