Anders Zorn - Paintings

Anders Leonard Zorn was a Swedish painter, draftsman and sculptor between Realism and Impressionism, who is internationally known for his realistic portraits.
Born: 18 February 1860 in Mora, United Kingdoms of Sweden and Norway
Died: 22 August 1920 in Stockholm, Sweden
Stemming from a simple peasant family, Anders Leonard Zorn, already attends the Academy in Stockholm as a teenager. His artistic talent allows him to travel a lot and to reside in both, the artistic strongholds of that time – so he spends some time in Paris – and in smaller artists’ communes. Deeply connected to his homeland, Anders Zorn moves to Mora in 1896 and establishes a studio, which nowadays is a museum. Also in his paintings, he remains fond of Nordic motifs. In addition to landscape paintings and nudes, which he produces in a light, Impressionistic manner, he produces above all portraits for which he is internationally renowned. In this context, many portraits of famous writers, actors and artists, who are depicted with very realistic in gestures and facial expressions, are produced.
