Alfred Thompson Bricher - Paintings

Alfred Thompson Bricher was an American painter of Realism who mainly became famous by his seascapes.
Born: 10 April 1837 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, USA
Died: 30 September 1908 in New York, New York, USA
For some years, Alfred Thompson Bricher works as a merchant. After graduation, he opens his own studio at the Lower Institute in Boston. Already from 1864, Bricher gets his first exhibitions. Due to their success, he moves to New York, four years later. His landscape paintings, which appear almost static, are very popular. Before painting these late deserted coastal depictions, Bricher temporarily also produces almost monochrome landscape paintings. Even though Alfred Thompson Bricher’s works are received well by many collectors during his lifetime, his works almost completely fall into oblivion after his death.
