Adrianus Eversen - Paintings

Adrianus Eversen was a renowned Dutch painter and draftsman of Dutch cityscapes in the 19th century.
Born: 13 January 1818 in Amsterdam
Died: 01 December 1897 in Delft
Adrianus Eversen receives his painting education, among others, from the Amsterdam painter Cornelis Springer. He settles down in this city from 1826 and starts to draw its streets and squares. His often very vivid and colorful paintings show the history of such buildings and cityscapes in romanticizing detail, which, already at Eversen’s time, either do not exist any more or are ruins. The great vibrancy within the city is what is fascinating about Eversen's paintings. Even on snow-covered streets, people are discussing, doing their shopping or loading sleds. Due to their richness in detail, these depictions are narrative, and they comfort their buyers, making up for their often much worse living conditions in the cities.
